"Norman Lloyd recalls that Welles would slip out of the
theater during the Mark Antony oration at Caesar’s funeral, have a quick drink
and bite of food at a local restaurant, then race back to the stage just at the
second of his cue. On one occasion the theater caught fire; without breaking
rhythm he said, in correct pentameter, “Kind sirs, please put the burning
furnace out.”"
Charles Higham, "Orson Welles: The rise and fall of American genius".
